History and Narrative Writing in Ms. Aivalikli’s Class

I visited Ms. Aivalikli’s sixth class today. They have been learning about Georgian Dublin this month. They have focused on the architecture and history of the time. Students have been doing PowerPoint Presentations and Reports on either the Four Courts, James Gandon or Georgian Homes. They are going into Collin’s Barracks to look at Georgian furniture and clothing and will be sketching the Four Courts.

In English they have been working on Narrative writing, creating tension and using descriptive words. They will be writing their own stories soon.

Totem Poles and Science in Ms. Aivalikli’s Class

Last month, Ms Aivalikli’s class did a lot!

In History, the class learned about Native Americans. They talked about weapons like totem poles. In Gaeilge they did Mé Feín and had conversations as Gaeilge!

In science they did some experiments. They mixed milk, vinegar and sugar with water to see what happened. They also read up to Chapter 9 in ‘Under the Hawthorn Tree’. In Maths they did stations. In their stations, they played games. Their favourite game was War.

What a busy month!

The Last of Our St. Anne’s Days

Today I was interviewing the very nice and generous, Ozichi, who told me lots about 6th Class! She told me that we would be on the edge of our seats because they are putting on the play, Oliver. She is very excited about going to Secondary School but also is sad to leave St. Anne’s. They are also excited about the end of year T-shirt signing and the disco which is for 6th Class only.

I also visited Ms. Kett’s 6th Class and I got another interesting interview from Maeve, who very kindly gave us lots of information on 6th Class. Just like Ms. Kelly’s Class, they are working on a play called Cinderella Rockerfella. I don’t know about you guys but I’m excited! I mean, two plays! Ms. Kett’s Class are really excited about Carlingford, which is coming up soon. Their confirmation was on the 25th of March, they got lots of treats, and are excited but sad to leave. In one word Maeve describes 6th Class as ‘fun’!

Sixth Class Confirmation and End of Year Show

The confirmation was held in St Anne’s Church on the 25th of March. The children of Ms. Kelly’s class and Ms Kett’s class were being confirmed. The children of Ms. Lennon’s class and Ms Meghan’s class were singing in the choir. We hope everyone had a great confirmation day.

Both Ms Kett’s and Ms Kelly’s class are doing an end of year show. The two titles are “Cinderella Rockafella” and “Oliver Twist”. Cinderella Rockafella is being done by Ms Kett’s class and Oliver Twist is being done by Ms Kelly’s class. Everyone is looking forward to seeing both shows and I hope you all are too.
