Easter Fun in Junior Infants

It’s  been all Easter  fun in Junior Infants. After making lots of Easter Art, we’ve had a busy day on  our Easter hunt. What a lovely surprise to find an egg hidden under our chair! Thanks to  some of 5th class who joined us too. We were excited to be able  to give them some chocolate too to say thanks!

News from 6th Class as Term 2 ends!

Sixth class had a busy 2nd term. We enjoyed Rugby, GAA, Dance and Gymnastics for P.E. We danced with 3rd class for Seachtain na Gaeilge and did a Tráth na gCeist with our friends in the other 6th class. We have started preparations for our End of Year Show ‘Matilda’ and a big highlight was welcoming T.D Barry Ward and his colleague into our classroom to do a mock trial with us. We finished the term with a school tour to Kilmainham Gaol as part of our history studies. We had a fantastic visit!

Kilmainham Gaol – 6th Class Visit

On Monday, both 6th Classes travelled to Kilmainham Gaol. The children have been learning about the 1916 Easter Rising as part of their History study. They got to explore the chapel, the Civil War cells, the Stonebreakers’ yard and the Museum. For many, the highlight was the recognition that a famous ‘prisoner’ had been Paddington Bear, as the gaol had been a location for the Paddington 2 film.

News from 3rd Class

3rd class have been making bird nests and rafts with Mouse, our nature specialist! They have also planted cress, salad leaves, peas, french beans and sunflower seeds and are really enjoying watching them grow into tall, healthy flowers!

In addition, they have paired up with all of the children in Ms. O’ Crowley’s Senior Infants and they are writing personalised books for each of them! Check out our Social Media Platforms for some photographs.
